Start with symptoms. Dragging or scraping often points to hinge pivot wear, settle of the house, or track debris—sometimes adjustable without new glass. Actual cracks or edge chips in tempered bath glass frequently mean replacement because tempered can’t be reliably “patched.”
Leak vs. glass failure
Water at the sweep may be caulking or alignment—not the panel itself. We test before ordering glass.
When replacement is clearly indicated
- Network of cracks or a spider pattern on tempered
- Panel out-of-plumb beyond hardware adjustment
- Corrosion at clamps compromising hold
